Cloud Phone SystemsWhy does the wrong company name show when I call people?
You call a customer, and their mobile flashes up an old business name — or someone else's entirely. Frustrating, but here's the thing: it's not your phone system doing it. What's actually happening When your call arrives, the receiving phone looks your number up and displays whatever name it finds. Australia has no single official database for this — each phone manufacturer and app maintains its own lookup service, and they're often out of date. How to fix it Update your business name against your phone number in the databases the big platforms actually use: 1. Google Business Profile — make sure your listing shows the correct name and phone number 2. Apple Maps — submit a correction to your business profile 3. Infobel Australia — the business data portal used by several lookup services 4. Hiya — the caller-ID database used by many Android manufacturers; submit a correction request Updates typically take a few weeks to flow through, and each database is independent — fixing one doesn't fix the others. The reliable shortcut Any customer who saves your number in their contacts will always see your saved name — their phone's own contact list beats every database lookup. Worth mentioning in your email signature. Want a hand submitting the corrections? Raise a ticket and we'll point you at each form.
Internet & DataInternet down? Work through this first
Five minutes with this list fixes a surprising share of "the internet's down" — and if it doesn't, you'll have exactly the info we need to escalate fast. The checklist 1. Is it everyone, or just you? One computer offline while others work = a device problem, not an outage. Try another device on the same network first. 2. Power-cycle the right way. Turn off both the NBN connection box (if you have one) and your router. Wait 60 seconds. Turn the NBN box on first, wait for its lights to settle (2–3 minutes), then the router. 3. Check the lights. Note which lights are on, off, or red/amber on both boxes — photograph them if you're raising a ticket. (If you're on an FTTN or FTTB connection there's no NBN box — just your router.) 4. Check for a known outage. NBN Co lists current outages on their website by address — a planned maintenance window is the answer more often than you'd think. 5. Check the cables. Especially after cleaners, tradies or office rearranging. Every cable firmly clicked in, including the wall socket. When you contact us Raise a ticket or ring 1300 522 253 with: - Your address / site affected - What the lights on the NBN box and router are doing (photos are perfect) - When it stopped working, and whether anything changed around then - Whether it's fully down or just slow — and if slow, a speed test result Remember: your cloud phone system fails over gracefully — calls can ring on mobiles via the Communicator GO app even when office internet is down. If you'd like that configured as your backup plan, ask us.
Getting StartedMeet Ava — your AI receptionist
Ava is Jabblefish's AI receptionist: a natural Australian voice that answers your business calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — including weekends and public holidays. No menus, no "press 1", just real conversation. What Ava can do - Answer every call — no more missed calls going to voicemail (and then to your competitor) - Answer questions about your business, services, hours and location - Take bookings directly into your calendar - Capture caller details and pass them to your team - Process payments over the phone - Make outbound calls — appointment confirmations, reminders, follow-ups Common questions Does Ava sound like a robot? No — Ava uses a natural Australian voice and holds a genuine conversation. Most callers don't pick it. You can customise the voice and how she introduces your business. What happens when Ava can't help? Ava hands over gracefully — taking a message with full details, or transferring the call to your team, depending on how you've set things up. Can Ava integrate with my systems? Yes. Ava connects with your calendar, booking system, customer data, phone system and IT — that integration is the whole point. One system, not another silo. How do I change what Ava says or does? Contact us via live chat or raise a ticket and we'll adjust her setup. Common changes: business hours, services, booking rules, greeting, escalation contacts. How do I get Ava? Talk to us — the chat bubble on this page works, or call 1300 522 253. We'll walk through what calls you're missing today and set Ava up to catch them.
Cloud Phone SystemsTroubleshooting — calls failing or not behaving
The fixes for the call problems we see most often. "Call Failed" when dialling from the desktop app The cause (nearly every time): the app defaults to using a desk phone as its calling device. If you don't have a physical desk phone registered on your extension, every call fails. The fix: 1. Open the phone dialler in the Communicator app 2. Look at the device selector in the lower-right corner — it likely says Deskphone 3. Click it and choose Softphone 4. Accept the prompt and make a test call Calls from private/withheld numbers ignore my call forwarding If calls from "No Caller ID" numbers don't follow your forwarding rules, your extension is missing a Caller ID assignment. This one needs a quick change on our side — raise a ticket with the extension number and we'll set it. I can't find the Central Phone Book in the desktop app It moved in a recent version. It's now under: Home tab → Contacts → Central Phonebook. Checking your own audio Dial *398 for an echo test — you'll hear your own voice played back. If the echo is clear, your microphone, speaker and connection to us are all fine, and the problem is likely on the far end. Voicemail from someone else's desk Dial *124, then enter the mailbox's extension number and its PIN. Handy when you're covering a colleague's phone. Still stuck? Chat with us via the bubble, or raise a ticket with: the extension affected, an example call (time + number), and what happened vs. what you expected. We'll take it from there.
Cloud Phone SystemsTake your office number anywhere — the mobile app
The Communicator GO app turns your mobile into your office extension — make and take business calls, chat with the team, and check voicemail from anywhere, over WiFi or mobile data. Setting it up Install Communicator GO from the App Store or Google Play, then sign in one of three ways: 1. QR code (easiest): scan the QR code from your welcome email, from the desktop Communicator app, or from your Self Care Portal. The email QR works once and asks you to set a new password. 2. Manual: enter your email address, password, and the server address from your welcome email. 3. SSO: tap SSO Login, enter the server, and sign in with your provider. Allow the microphone and contacts permissions when prompted — it can't make calls without them. Good to know - Green call button = call over data (normal). Yellow button = callback mode, handy when data is poor: the system rings your mobile and connects the call. - VPNs interfere with calling. If calls won't connect and you run a VPN on your phone, disconnect the VPN and try again. - Your call history syncs with your desk phone and desktop app. - Voicemail, chat (with attachments and voice messages), the company directory and favourites are all built in. - On mobile data, "Use SIP over mobile networks" is on by default — calls use a trivial amount of data. Troubleshooting quick hits - Can't sign in: your login is the same as the desktop Communicator app. Not sure? Ask us or your admin. - Calls fail on WiFi: try the yellow callback button, or check the VPN note above. - Poor call quality: the in-call quality indicator (MOS score) helps us diagnose — screenshot it and raise a ticket.
